Get rid of pests in rice or grains

Have little bugs raided your pantry? These pesky bugs also called rice weevils can be a problem for those who live in sunny and humid locations. And while they are gross looking, you can find comfort in knowing that they not actually harmful if consumed and you certainly do not have to throw your grains away. Here's how to save a bag of rice that has been infested with bugs.

Start by transferring the rice into a clean plastic bag.

Tie it up and put in the freezer for 24 hours. This will kill any bugs present in the rice.

Once out of the freezer, transfer the rice back into the container that was used to store it.This time, add some cloves to the rice. Clove is an aromatic whole spice that naturally repels bugs because of its scent. Seal and store. To use, simply rinse the rice before cooking and skim the bugs as they float to the top.

You can also prevent bug infestation in new bags of rice, flour and other grains by simply adding cloves.
